🏠 When to Add New Records

New records should be added whenever a new property is created. This may occur at either:

• BLPU (Basic Land and Property Unit) level, or

• LPI (Land and Property Identifier) level, depending on the circumstances.

📍 Spatial Referencing

All entities (streets or properties) require spatial coordinates. Using the GIS to add geometry will automatically capture and include these coordinates in the property record.

• A pair of coordinates forms a representative point for a BLPU.

• The accuracy of this point is defined by the Representative Point Code (RPC) (e.g., visual centre, start of street).

• Streets are represented by one or more lines connecting endpoints or nodes.

It is also possible to record a spatial extent (polygon) for a BLPU. This is particularly relevant for large land areas. If used, the BLPU extent must include a provenance record to document its origin.

When a new property record is created in NGz:

1. A representative symbol must be added to the map.

2. This captures the spatial coordinates for the property.

3. Coordinates are reflected in other GIS and primary information systems, enabling the property location to be displayed on maps.

🖊️ Adding Map Symbols

Symbol Placement:

• Open the GGP map window.

• Click the Add Point button to place a symbol. 

• This should be done when prompted at the bottom of the screen while entering property details in the NGz editor.

Optionally, polygons can also be drawn using GIS tools.
