Adding & Editing Properties - Reassigning a Property

📌 Overview

Reassigning a property enables you to logically move it to a different street without changing its physical location.

This is especially useful when:

• A property was created while the wrong street was selected.

• A whole street has been incorrectly assigned.

• Multiple properties in an area need reassignment at once.

👉 Properties can only be reassigned to:

• Type 1 (official) or Type 2 (official alternative) streets.

• ❌ Not to closed streets.

🛠 Methods of Reassignment

You can reassign property records in three ways:

1. Individual Reassignment – Move a single property to a new street.

2. Street-Wide Reassignment – Transfer all properties from one street to another.

3. Spatial Reassignment – Use a spatial search in GGP to select and reassign a group of symbols.

⚠️ Important: Reassignment moves the records logically, not the symbols physically on the map.

⚠️ Duplication Rules

• A property cannot be reassigned if it would create duplicate numbering on the new street.

• If duplicates occur during a full street reassignment:

  • The original street retains the properties that could not be reassigned.

• To resolve, you may need to edit the PAON in LPI Details:

  • Temporarily assign a unique number.

  • Reassign the property.

  • Update to the correct number afterwards.

👤 Individual Property Reassignment

To reassign a single property:

1. Take Note of Streets

   • Record the USRN numbers or street names of both the current and target street.

2. Open Reassignment

   • In the Properties tab, right-click the property.

   • Select Reassign.

3. Select New Street

   • The Reassign property to another Street window appears.

   • Use the search tool to find the street by:

     • Entering the USRN, or

     • Typing part/all of the street name.

4. Confirm Reassignment

   • Select the target street from the grid.

   • Click OK to confirm.

5. Automatic Updates

   • All LPIs for that property (including Alternatives) are reassigned to the new street.

   • Ensures Approved/Preferred LPIs and their linked alternatives stay consistent.

📎 Example: Multiple Property Reassignment

If reassigning all properties on a street:

• NGz attempts to move each record.

• Any duplicates remain on the original street.

• Review and adjust PAONs as needed.

For spatial reassignments in GGP:

• Select multiple properties graphically.

• Reassign them in one operation.

✅ Tip: Use reassignment when the issue relates to street association. If the issue is purely spatial, use Move Symbol instead.
