📌 Introduction

To comply with the BS 7666 Standard and NLPG/NSG preferences, NGz follows a set of conventions:

• Define level of detail to be recorded.

• Standardize codes for specific meanings.

• Specify which data fields are mandatory or optional.

NGz will guide you through entering data for any new street. When in doubt, refer to the conventions.

🗂️ Street Entities

• NGz allows, and sometimes requires, certain data entities to be recorded.

🏷️ Street Levels and Types

• Level 1 Street:

  • The basic representation per BS7666.

  • Defined by two pairs of spatial coordinates:

    • Start point

    • End point

  • Continuous features (e.g., roundabouts) may have identical start and end coordinates.

  • From the Streets tab, you can only create Level 1 streets, although Level 2 and 3 streets are also maintained in the gazetteer.

• Levels 2 & 3 Streets:

  • Derived from Elementary Street Units (ESUs).

  • These provide more granular detail about street structure.
