ℹ️ Overview
Properties can be related in a hierarchical structure, defining their relationship across one or more levels.
Parent BLPU → Represented by an LPI with an entry in the PAO but no entry in the SAO.
Child BLPU → Represented by an LPI with an entry in both SAO and PAO.
👉 In most cases, the Child inherits the PAO from its Parent, but this is not mandatory for every level in the hierarchy.
🔗 Parent UPRN in DTF 7.3
From DTF 7.3, a Parent UPRN field is included to record the Parent UPRN on Child BLPU records.
When a Parent/Child relationship is created or updated, this field is populated automatically.
The field can also be edited manually if required.
On a Child record, the main LPI determines the BLPU Parent UPRN field.
🏗️ Creating a Parent Property
Create a property as normal, following the usual process for adding a symbol.
The property will automatically qualify as a Parent Property.
It will then be added to the Parent Property List, making it available for linking potential Child properties.
👶 Creating a Child Property
➡️ Once a Parent property exists, you can then link new or existing BLPU records as Child Properties.
📌 See the next section: "Create a Child Property" for step-by-step details.
