🏠 LLPG Data Owners (Creating Authorities) and Data Receivers
Many organisations contribute to maintaining the quality of gazetteer data:
Creating Authorities (LLPG Data Owners):
Supply change data to custodians, drawing intelligence from departments that handle property-related matters.
Data Receivers (Customers of NLPG):
For example, Emergency Services can submit potential changes to the NLPG hub.
Once approved, licensed Data Receiving Authorities receive verified updates.
How Changes Are Processed:
Proposed changes are treated as ‘candidate’ data, which undergoes strict validation and approval.
This ensures compliance with data standards and custodian acceptance.
The LLPG Custodian (AAC) at the Creating Authority decides whether to approve or reject changes.
Data entered directly by custodians into NGz is accepted immediately, provided it meets the standards.
Internal Change Intelligence:
Within LLPG/SNN Authorities, intelligence is reported to the custodian team via:
Linked system data flows
Accuracy checks and exception reports
Feedback loops
Data from the NLPG hub may also include candidates submitted by Data Receiving Authorities.
🛣️ LSG Data Owners and Data Users
The NSG can only be accessed by organisations that:
Have a statutory duty to coordinate or perform street works, or
Have a legitimate functional need linked to NSG data contributions.
Responsibilities:
Creating Authorities (street/property-related departments) provide change intelligence to custodians.
Custodian Authorities must develop internal processes for submitting change intelligence and SNN data to the AAC.
These submissions are not managed in NGz until processed by the custodian team.
ASCs in County/Unitary authorities are responsible for:
Street content of the NGz gazetteer.
Submitting updates to the NSG.
Approving Changes:
Local custodians approve or reject proposed changes.
NGz will accept directly entered custodian data if it meets standards.
