🧠Overview
The Borland Database Engine (BDE) is required only if you're using the legacy Shazam Report generator.
If you are using the newer Fast Report generator, you do not need BDE.
🖥️ Network Setup: Reference BDE for Client PCs
In a networked GGP environment, you can use User Control > Tools > Reference Network BDE to point client PCs to the shared BDE installation on your network.
🔹 For PCs Without a BDE Reference:
If BDE is not already referenced, you’ll be prompted to confirm the network BDE path.
Click OK to confirm or Browse to manually select another directory (not recommended).
🔹 For PCs That Already Have a BDE Reference:
If BDE is already referenced, you’ll see a summary screen.
In most cases, click Cancel — no further action is needed.
If transitioning from a standalone setup, click OK to switch to the network BDE.
🧾 Additional Notes
If BDE was not properly installed on the server, clients may still show "BDE not found."
In this case, reinstall BDE on the server and check the “This is a network installation of BDE” option.
For standalone PCs, BDE is usually set up automatically during installation.
You can still view the current BDE path via the Reference Network BDE option and click Cancel to exit.
