✏️ Editing Your Template

Once your initial page layout is set, you can begin enhancing your template with GGP map elements, dynamic text, and symbols.

To insert GGP-specific features:

1. Click the GGP Map Elements button from the toolbar on the left.

2. Use this to add maps, live text, and symbols.

3. You can also use standard Fast Reports tools like:

   • Text Object

   • Picture Object

   • Draw

🗺️ Adding a GGP Map (Primary Map Area)

1. Click Primary Map Area from the GGP Map Elements submenu.

2. A dotted rectangle will appear — this represents your map.

3. After placing the map, a properties window will open.

4. From here, you can:

   • Enable/disable map features

   • Set positions for scale, north arrow, keys, etc.

   • Right-click any element to reposition or configure

   • Double-click the map at any time to re-open properties

🧠 Adding Live Text with Reserved Keywords

Use Live Text to insert dynamic, auto-updated fields into your print template.

How to Add:

1. Select Live Text from the GGP Map Elements toolbar.

2. Draw a rectangular area for the text.

3. A window will appear listing all available Reserved Keywords.

Reserved Keywords:

Keyword	Description
^Scale	Current scale (e.g., 1:1250)
^Mapref	Map reference (e.g., TQ4583)
^Date	System date (e.g., 03/06/1996)
^LDate	Long date (e.g., 03 June 1996)
^Time	System time (e.g., 16:46)
^LDay	Day name (e.g., Monday)
^Month	Short month (e.g., Jun)
^LMonth	Full month name (e.g., October)
^Year	Short year (e.g., 96)
^LYear	Full year (e.g., 1996)
^Copyright	Copyright text (chosen at print time)
^OSLicence	License key from LOCK.INI

✅ You can combine keywords with regular text
Example:
Map created on ^LDate at ^Time using scale ^Scale

Use the Preview button to see how the Live Text will appear at print time.

🙋 Adding User-Defined Keywords

You can create custom fields that users fill out during printing.

Syntax:

[20:Title]

• 20 = Max number of characters

• Title = Name of the field

• If you write [Title], a default max of 30 characters is used

• Keywords must be placed inside Live Text boxes only

• Max length = 128 characters

Example:

Map at scale ^Scale produced by [30:Name] on ^LDate at ^Time

Will render as:

Map at scale 1:1250 produced by Fred Bloggs on 11 January 1996 at 14:27

🎨 Adding Individual Features

While most features are available via GGP Map, they can also be inserted separately.

📦 Text Boxes

• Insert from the toolbar

• Choose position, text content, and formatting options

🧭 North Point Symbol

• Acts as a north direction indicator

• Can be resized, but only one icon is available

📏 Scale Bar

• Represents real-world scale (m, km, etc.)

• Transparent by default in Preview/Print

• Use Erase Background (via right-click) for an opaque background

• Note: Printing via Create PDF does not support transparency — background will always be opaque

🗝️ Map Key

• Represents symbols for points, lines, polygons

• Text font is fixed, but colours can be changed via the template editor

💾 Saving Your Template

Once you’re satisfied with your design:

1. Click Save in Fast Reports.

2. Choose:

   • A save location (e.g., Home, Department folder)

   • File name (must end in .PT.FR3)

   • A description (used to help identify its purpose)

✅ Your saved template will be available for future use and sharing.
