This article explains how to draw graphic objects onto your map overlays in the GGP software.
To add any data onto your overlay, you must first draw a graphic object onto the map. This section focuses on drawing objects using the temporary scratch layer of Standard Graphics, as brought up with File | New Script | Standard View. The appearance of these graphic objects will be displayed in their default styles.
Adding a Point (Symbol) Geometry
1. Click on the addpoint icon or select Add | Symbol from the menu.
2.The other menu options should now be disabled, and only the toolbar buttons for Save or Abandon will be activated.
3.Click on the map where you wish to place the symbol.
4.Click the Save button to save the new object.
Adding a Line Geometry
1.Click on the addline icon or select Add | Polyline from the menu.
2.The other menu options should now be disabled, and only the toolbar buttons for Save or Abandon will be activated.
3.To draw a freehand line, click on the map at the start point of the polyline, then continue to move and click the mouse point as many times as you wish until the polyline is completed.
4.When the polyline is completed, click the right-hand mouse button and choose Finish. After selecting finish, the length of the polyline is displayed in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
5.Click the Save button to save the new object.
Adding a Circle Geometry
1.Click on the circle geometry icon or select Add | Circle from the menu.
2.The other menu options should now be disabled, and only the toolbar buttons for Save or Abandon will be activated.
3.The circle can be placed freehand by manually positioning the cursor over the location on the OS map where you wish the center point of the circle to be and clicking the left mouse button. Drag the mouse to expand the circle and left click again when finished.
4.Click the Save button to save the new object.
Adding a Rectangle Geometry
1.Click on the rectangle geometry icon or select Add | Rectangle from the menu.
2.The other menu options should now be disabled, and only the toolbar buttons for Save or Abandon will be activated.
3.The rectangle is placed freehand by manually positioning the cursor over a location on the OS map and clicking the left mouse button. Drag the mouse to develop the rectangle and left click when finished.
4.Click the Save button to save the new object.
Adding a Polygon Geometry
1.Click on the polygon geometry icon or select Add | Polygon from the menu.
2.The other menu options should now be disabled, and only the toolbar buttons for Save or Abandon will be activated.
3.Click on the map at the start point of the polygon, then continue to move and click the mouse point until the polygon is completed.
4.When the polygon is nearly completed, click the right-hand mouse button to choose Finish to close the last section of the polygon. After selecting Finish, the Area and Length of the polygon are displayed in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
Adding a Text Object
1.Click on the text icon or select Add | Text from the menu.
2.The other menu options should now be disabled, and only the toolbar buttons for Save or Abandon will be activated.
3.For a Text object, you must use the same dialogue form to record both the attributes of the item and the text which will itself become the graphic object on the map.
4.Enter the text into the upper box as you wish it to be displayed on the map.
5.Click OK to go back to the map.
6.To add text onto the map overlay, click the left mouse button which will create a horizontal box of the correct size for the text, and attached to the mouse cursor.
7.Float the box with the cursor into the correct position, and then click the left mouse button again to place the text on the map.
