This article describes the various functions of the toolbar buttons in the GGP software.
Toolbar
The GGP toolbar contains shortcut buttons for the most common actions. Placing the cursor over a button without clicking it will display a hint about its function.
When you have opened an overlay for entering data, the Save and Cancel buttons will also be enabled.
Moving around the Map
The first six toolbar buttons are for moving around the map, repeating functions from the Zoom menu.
•Zoom In or Zoom Out: These operate by zooming in or out by a predetermined factor (which you can change by right-clicking the mouse). You can also zoom in or out by rolling the center mouse-wheel one click.
•Zoom Area: Draw a frame on the map by clicking and dragging to form a rectangle. The map display will zoom in to that area.
•Zoom Original: This takes you back to the startup position for the script you are working in. To change the startup view, set the map to the desired position and then select Zoom|Make Original View.
•Zoom Previous: This takes you back one step.
•Scroll: There are several options available using Scroll. When you select scroll by clicking the arrow button, the map view will display a frame the same size as the viewport, which you can drag with the mouse to the desired map view position. Another simple way of moving the map is to position the cursor where you would like the center of the map to be, and key <CTRL> X.
Other Buttons on the Toolbar
•Overlay Selection Buttons: These two buttons are for selecting overlays and placing one into the foreground for working on. They repeat functions from the Options menu.
•Add Object Buttons: There are six buttons which you will use regularly for adding new objects onto the overlay. They repeat functions from the Add menu.
•Amend Existing Objects Buttons: These three buttons can be used to amend existing objects. They repeat functions from the Edit menu.
•Measure Button: This is one of the Tool menu items and is used for measuring a distance on the map.
•Print Button: This is from the File menu and used to print off part of the map.
•Print Setup: The Print Setup option allows you to configure key settings before printing a document. This includes selecting the printer in use, specifying the paper size (e.g., A4, Letter), and choosing the page orientation (Portrait or Landscape).
•Gazetteer Button: This is a shortcut to Zoom|Change Map View and will move the map window based on a gazetteer search.
•Refresh/Redraw Button: Used to tidy up the map display at any time after changes have been made.
•Select Polygon: Allows you to select a MasterMap polygon with one click.
•Undo Last Selection Button: Only enabled when you are in selection mode.
•Green MasterMap Toggle Button: Only enabled when using rasterized MasterMap above the scale threshold which has been set, and this allows you to revert to vector data if needed.
•Confirm/Save or Abort/Abandon Buttons: Used throughout GGP to accept or reject changes which you are making to the map data.
