User Control – Setup Department Directory Settings

👤 Who Can Access?

🔐 Access Requirement:
You must have Corporate Administrator rights in GGP to access this screen.

🧭 Accessing the Setup

1. From the Applications Launcher, click the Users button.

   

2. Click the Setup Departments button.

3. In the Setup Departments screen, select the department you want to configure.

4. Click Edit/Save Directory Settings... to open the directory configuration dialogue.

📁 Purpose of This Screen

This dialogue allows Corporate Administrators to define default directory paths for all users in a department, including:

• 📌 Department Location

• 🏢 Corporate Directory

• 🗺️ Map Database

• 🖼️ Raster Database

• ➕ Other related directories

These serve as default settings, which can be overridden at the individual user level through the User Directory Settings screen.

🛠️ How to Make Changes

To modify a directory path:

1. 🔤 Manually: Click in the text box and type a valid path.

2. 📂 Browse: Click the button next to the path field to select a location on your local machine or network.

🔁 Double-click a path to toggle between environment variables and mapped drive letters.

✅ Use UNC Paths
Tick the ‘Use UNC Names’ checkbox to display network paths in UNC format.
(Note: This option is available only at the department level, not for user-level edits.)

💾 Where Are These Settings Saved?

All changes are stored in the department’s DEPARTMENT.INI file, located at:

\\GGPWIN\LICENCES\LOCK\CLIENT\{Department name}
