🖱️ Step 1 – Access the Snap Option
When you step through the process of adding geometry in your overlay, dialog boxes will appear (shown below).
The options displayed can be selected by:
Clicking with the mouse
Or using the shortcut keys (identified by an underlined letter on the dialog box, or visible when hovering over the main status bar at the bottom of the screen).

📍 Step 2 – Selecting the Snap Menu
When adding a symbol to an overlay and the snap function is required:
Position the cursor over the OS feature or existing overlay graphic.
Right-click with the mouse.
Select the Snap menu option from the pop-up menu.
🔍 Step 3 – Highlighting the Feature
The OS feature or existing overlay graphic you selected will now be highlighted.
A dialog box will appear in the top-left corner of your screen (shown below).
⚙️ Step 4 – Available Options
The dialog will show different options depending on what you selected to snap to.
If available, select:
Calculated point (◉)
Node point (◉)
Note:
The Part Line and Include all of line/polygon options are disabled (greyed out) when snapping a symbol.
🔄 Step 5 – Selecting the Correct Feature
If the wrong feature is highlighted, you can switch using:
Next feature ⏩
Previous feature ⏪
Next Overlay 📄
Previous Overlay 📄
When the correct feature is selected, click OK.
✅ Step 6 – Placing the Symbol
The dialog box will close, and the symbol will be positioned in the foreground overlay at the correct location.
💾 Step 7 – Confirming the Addition
Click the Confirm button on the toolbar
OR go to Add | Save in the menu.
