Adding Features - Polyline (Add Menu, Toolbar)

You can only add Polylines to Link or Area type overlays. The type of overlay file can be seen in the Main Details page of Setup Application.

Make sure you have selected the required Overlay as the Foreground Overlay. See Selecting Foreground & Background Overlays for more information.

▶️ To add a polyline:

• Click on the Add menu then select Polyline
  Alternatively, click on the Polyline speed button on the toolbar.

• The menu options will now be greyed out, and the toolbar buttons for Abort and Confirm will be activated, indicating you are in the middle of the add process.

• Next, right mouse click to access the pop-up menu for the polyline.

✏️ Drawing the Polyline:

• When the polyline attributes are set, you are ready to draw the polyline.

• An alternative to snapping to the OS feature is to click on the map at the start point of the polyline, then continue to move and click the mouse point until the polyline is completed. This method is drawing the polyline freehand.

• When the polyline is completed, right mouse click and choose Finish.

• After selecting Finish, the Length of the polyline is displayed in the bar at the bottom of the screen.

• If you have the Length reserved field name specified in your overlay database design, the field will be automatically updated in the pop-up form.

💾 Saving or Clearing:

• If you are satisfied with the overlay graphics, click on the Save button.

• If the Foreground Overlay has an associated Overlay Database table, the associated form automatically appears for data entry. 

• If you are dissatisfied with the overlay graphics, click the Clear button without saving.
