How to Launch GGP with a Specific Script File
Overview
There are two main ways to launch GGP with a pre-defined script file: via the GGP Applications Launcher (recommended) or by creating a custom shortcut. Each method has its advantages, particularly in terms of user access and password entry.
Option 1: Launching via GGP Applications Launcher (Recommended)
If you are using User Control, this is the preferred method.
Steps:
Open the GGP Applications Launcher.
Edit the Script Selector within the launcher settings.
Choose the script file you want GGP to launch with.
Why use this method?
Using the GGP Applications Launcher means you only need to enter your User Control password once to access any GGP components you are authorized to use (e.g., Setup Applications, GGP Desktop, etc.).
If you use the shortcut method described below, you will have to re-enter passwords for each GGP component you launch separately.
Option 2: Launching via a Custom Shortcut
You can create a shortcut to launch GGP directly with a specific script file.
Steps:
-
Navigate to the folder where GGP is installed, typically:
GGPWIN\PROGRAMS Locate the executable:
GGP32.EXERight-click and drag
GGP32.EXEto your desktop (or another location), then select Copy Here.Right-click the new shortcut and choose Properties.
-
In the Target field, append the script file name to the end of the executable path, for example:
"C:\GGPWIN\PROGRAMS\GGP32.EXE" KEY.SCRReplace
KEY.SCRwith the name of your desired script file.Tip: You can also use the reserved script name
STDVIEW.SCR. See Reserved Script Names for more details.
Multiple Scripts:
GGP supports up to three scripts per session. You can add all three on the command line to auto-start them together:
GGP32.EXE SCRIPT1.GSC SCRIPT2.GSC SCRIPT3.GSC
Important Considerations
While launching via a shortcut is a valid method, it requires more maintenance.
For better efficiency and security, GGP recommends using the GGP Applications Launcher, especially in environments with multiple GGP components and users.
