Configuring MasterMap Display and Print Settings in GGP

This article explains how to configure MasterMap display and print settings using the GGP Script Settings options. You can define thresholds, apply simulation styles, manage raster data, and more.

Accessing MasterMap Settings

To access these settings:

  • Display: Options > New Script Settings > Display

  • Current Script Display: Options > Current Script Settings > Display

  • Printer: Options > New Script Settings > Printer or Current Script Settings > Printer

Setting MasterMap Thresholds

  1. Navigate to the MasterMap Thresholds tab.

  2. View and manage layers from the OS Topographic data.

    • Enable or disable layers by checking boxes.

    • Set minimum and maximum scale thresholds to control visibility.

    • Example: For performance, turn off TopographicLine at scales like 1:10,000.

  3. Descriptive Groups Tab: Set thresholds based on feature attributes (e.g. roads, paths).

  4. COU Visibility Tab: Use Change-Only Update (COU) filtering:

    • Enable Show Change Only Updates and select a date.

    • Add a second date to show changes between two dates.

Using MasterMap Raster

If you have created some rasterized MasterMap data, you can select it for use in the script here.

To use rasterized MasterMap data:

  1. Check Use MasterMap Raster Threshold.

  2. Define the scale range (e.g., 1:5,000 to 1:10,000) for switching from vector to raster.

  3. Ensure raster thresholds do not overlap with those in Options > Raster.

🛈 Note: GGP handles raster internally as part of MasterMap. CTRL+B toggles apply.

If overlap occurs, you’ll receive a warning. Adjust scale thresholds in MasterMap or Raster settings accordingly.

MasterMap Display Styles

LandLine Simulation

  • Enables a LandLine-style appearance using your existing style settings.

  • Ignores MasterMap threshold settings.

  • Polygon interaction tools still function as expected.

Override Colour Style

  • Choose Monochrome or Greyscale display.

  • Select any colour from the palette—not restricted to black/white.

  • Polygon tools remain active even if outlines are disabled.

  • Greyscale applies to both raster and vector displays.

Shortcut: Press CTRL + ALT + G to toggle greyscale on or off.

Display Style Examples

The display can be controlled in several other ways, using the MasterMap section of the Script Settings dialogue.

  1. Original MasterMap

  2. LandLine Simulation

  3. Monochrome

  4. Greyscale

Identifying Vector vs Raster MasterMap

Check the Toggle MasterMap/Raster toolbar button:

  • Vector Display:

    • Toggle disabled

    • Tooltip: “Click to display MasterMap Raster”

  • Raster Display:

    • Tooltip: “Click to revert to MasterMap Vector”

🛈 Status bar will show:
"Enable/Disable MasterMap Raster Threshold; F6 Landline simulation on/off"

Adjusting MasterMap for Printing

LandLine Simulation Printing

  • Go to:
    Options > Printer Settings > OS Feature Styles

  • Set line thickness to points for resolution-independent results.

Topographic Printing

  • Edit the OSMastermapStyles.svg file:

    .buildingLine{stroke:#ff0000;stroke-width:0.14;fill:none}

    This affects print output only, not the on-screen view.

  • Optional: Use a temp folder with a copied .svg file for testing.

Removing MasterMap Settings (Advanced)

To remove all MasterMap configurations:

  1. Close GGP Desktop

  2. Open the Users table via Application Launcher.

  3. Open MapAdmin.INI for your user.

  4. Delete the following sections:

    [GISFeatureCollection]
[GISFeatureCollection-Feature1-OGISFeature]
[GISFeatureCollection-Feature1-OGISFeature-NVPairs]

  5. Save and exit.

  6. Restart GGP Desktop.
